Roza Calderon came to the U.S. as a child refugee from El Salvador in the late 80s during the peak of Ronald Reagan's "War on Communism" that lead to civil unrest throughout Latin America. Since her teen years, she has been a devoted advocate for human rights, education and international relations.

Raised in an immigrant family, Roza noticed early in life the impact of one's socioeconomic background in their ability to succeed. Roza set out to make sure that our children's opportunities are not dictated by the zip-code they were born into and believes in a nation that allows its citizens to thrive.

Roza has served on the Board of Directors, as the Chairperson of the Policy Council for KidZKount, a non-profit organization that focuses on early childhood education. From 2009-2011, Roza promoted child advocacy legislation for the Head Start Program and traveled through the region meeting the parents and children, learning their needs, their passions, their dreams, and finding ways to help them achieve them.  Roza is a mentor for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) programs at public schools, focusing on "Hour of Code CA" mentoring and teaching future generations of female software engineers.

After decades of being a human rights activist and community organizer, Roza launched her Congressional Campaign in 2018 as a Justice Democrat and Brand New Congress candidate after being nominated by her community.  Though she didn't defeat Tom McClintock, she continues her mission to support grassroot candidates that are not bought by corporations and special interests. Roza joined Future Generations PAC as the Executive Director to support down-ballot candidates nationwide. Most recently Roza had the honor of being a national surrogate for Senator Sanders' presidential campaign in 2020 and currently serves as the United States National Chair for Scholas Occurentes, a program launched by Pope Francis nearly 25 years ago in an effort to create a culture of encounters among the youth and prepare the next wave of leaders worldwide.

Roza is a geoscientist, small business owner, and resides in Granite Bay, California with her fifteen year old daughter.
